Moebius Trip (2006)

Contributed by Vijay Fafat

Featuring an aging mirror-maker who is asked to create a mirror which acts like a moebius strip and shows a reflection of the past and the future. Frankly, I did not think it was done well at all and is quite unconvincing. But it hinges on "Moebius" so I guess it qualifies as Math fiction.

If nothing else, I admire the title! This story was published in the 2006 anthology Elemental: The Tsunami Relief Anthology: Stories of Science Fiction and Fantasy

Enjoyable, but should be expanded to include more plot points and an explanation of the premise and properties of the 4D moebius strip

Where are the new works of mathematical fiction?: As you can see from this chronological listing, this database includes many works of mathematical fiction for each year from 1990 to 2025. Strangely, only two are listed for 2026, so far. Either less mathematical fiction is being published than in previous years or I'm just having more trouble finding it. If you know of any works of fiction that should be added to this list, especially recently published ones, please let me know. (Keep in mind that I do not include self-published works or children's fiction that just covers elementary mathematical concepts.) Thanks!
