Mathemagics (1996)
Margaret Ball

This novel continues the adventures of characters developed in the "chicks in chainmail" series of anthologies. As the title implies, in these fantasy stories about a suburban mom who lives the life of a warrior in an alternate reality, mathematics is magic. Specifically, magical incantations take the form of mathematical equations!

I particularly liked the "math puzzle" chapter numbers (each chapter number is represented by a formula similar to those found on some "geek clocks" ).

Exciting News: The 1,600th entry was recently added to this database of mathematical fiction! Also, for those of you interested in non-fictional math books let me (shamelessly) plug the recent release of the second edition of my soliton theory textbook.
