This Romanian coming-of-age movie from the Ceausescu era follows a group of high school students. Math class with a strict instructor nicknamed "Isocel" (i.e. "isosceles") is just one of the many adolescent rites of passage they must endure. Students answering math problems at the board occur in key scenes at the beginning and ending of the film. And, as a helpful site visitor points out:
