A movie about the difficulties faced by an autistic young woman with over-protective parents who attends college to pursue a career in mathematics. Author/director Reitman is an M.D. with an interest in "intellectual and developmental differences" who says that this work of fiction is based on his daughter's experiences. I have not actually seen this film. It was apparently previously available on Amazon, but at the time of this writing, they say "Our agreements with the content provider don't allow purchases of this title at this time". If you have seen it and comment on its literary quality and mathematical content, please use the form to tell me more. |

Exciting News: The 1,600th entry was recently added to this database of mathematical fiction! Also, for those of you interested in non-fictional math books
let me (shamelessly) plug the recent release of the second edition of my soliton theory textbook.
