| A strangled body is found in a supposedly haunted library in England in the 1920's. It turns out to belong to Dr. Potter, a math professor known for being a stylish dandy as well as for his intelligence. Realizing that the murderer cannot be the Italian organ grinder who is considered the primary suspect, Kate Shackleton seeks to identify the true killer. Her investigation turns up the existence of another math professor who is in some ways Potter's adversary. (For example, each of them is trying to make sure the other is chosen for a new fundraising position at the university.) She also discovers his secret side project: teaching arithmetic and algebra to animals! |

Where are the new works of mathematical fiction?: As you can see from this chronological listing, this database includes many works of mathematical fiction for each year from 1990 to 2025. Strangely, only two are listed for 2026, so far. Either less mathematical fiction is being published than in previous years or I'm just having more trouble finding it. If you know of any works of fiction that should be added to this list, especially recently published ones, please let me know. (Keep in mind that I do not include self-published works or children's fiction that just covers elementary mathematical concepts.) Thanks!
