A funny and heartbreaking novel about an old woman with severe social problems. The mathematics seeps in through her (deceased, we realize after a while) husband Niels, commonly known as Epsilon, who is /was an avid reader of books on mathematics and statistics. References to the Monty Hall problem and mathematical argumentation (contrapositive proofs, proofs by contradiction). Some of the latter is stolen from the introduction to my calculus book, but I forgive her!
