Evil Genius (2005)

I am pleased to report that the titular "evil genius" in this children's novel is not the stereotypical cold mathematician in so many other works of mathematical fiction. In fact, the title character is a very intelligent fourteen year old boy being raised to be a villain. However, contrary to the wishes of his instructors at Dr. Darkkon's school of evil, a kinder side of his nature begins to bloom when he meets a brilliant and kind girl on the Internet. In fact, it is she who is the main source of mathematics in the book, frequently demonstrating her interest in the Queen of the Sciences by references to such obscure things as Stormer numbers.

Thanks to Hauke Reddmann for suggesting that I add this book to the database.

This book is great in the young adult genre. When I read it, I just couldn't put it down. Although math is not the number one most important thing to this book, there still is a lot that I've learned from it.

Exciting News: The 1,600th entry was recently added to this database of mathematical fiction! Also, for those of you interested in non-fictional math books let me (shamelessly) plug the recent release of the second edition of my soliton theory textbook.
